nextScan Announces the Availability of New Microfiche Autoloader for FlexScan 2 in 1 Film and Fiche Scanner

Boise, ID – March 22, 2011

nextScan, the provider of the next generation in film and fiche scanning technology, today announced the availability of a new fiche autoloader for use with the FlexScan 2 in 1 film and fiche scanner. The autoloader is now an optional upgrade for existing FlexScan fiche users, or can be purchased bundled with new FlexScan scanners. The optional autoloader can hold 100 fiche jackets in the hopper, and currently affords speeds as fast as 2.8 seconds reload time per fiche. With the addition of the fiche autoloader to a FlexScan scanner, throughput will go from 125 images per minute to 195 images per minute. This autoloader gives the ability to process scanning jobs faster, reduces operator intervention, maximizes the speed of the scanner and ultimately adds to a user’s bottom line. This new autoloader will be featured in nextScan booth 912 at the upcoming Info360 / AIIM Show, March 22-24 in Washington DC.

Stated Kurt Breish, nextScan CEO, “The introduction of the new autoloader for the FlexScan 2 in 1 scanner gives users and potential users even more flexibility, which is really what the FlexScan scanner is all about. Now, in one unit, an organization can scan microfilm at 240 pages per minute, and fiche up to 195 pages per minute with the addition of the autoloader, all at a very affordable price point. This is going to allow many service bureaus to be even more competitive, and will give government and commercial entities the ability to tackle all conversion projects in house cost effectively. When one considers all of the functionality of the FlexScan scanner, which comes with our NextStar high performance workflow software, our patented LuminTec LED illumination system for enhanced image resolution with no file size increase, a specially designed Ribbon Storage Device that enables simultaneous capture, audit and output, and the options for roll, fiche, the autoloader, they have the TOTAL package for production film and fiche scanning all in one unit, with the end result being the highest scan speeds and the very best image quality to enable better OCR accuracy.”
